When he was alive, Dean called the city of Tulsa in the state of Oklahoma his home. When he passed away, he was there. After graduating from Columbus High School and attending Ohio State University for a total of two years, he was awarded a diploma and enlisted in the military in the year 1943. He attended Columbus High School and graduated there.

During his time in the Army Air Corps, he worked his way up to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and flew B-17s, B-24s, and B-25s out of a base in Diss, which is in the country of England.
